Lights Designed for the True North

When we started installing in 2009, we kept running into the same problem. Store-bought lights weren’t made for deep freezes, heavy snow load, and a season that runs from November to April. Strands failed, bulbs dimmed, and wire cracked in the cold.

So in 2010, we started building our own.

Today, every True North strand is designed around what we’ve learned from thousands of installs on Calgary homes, businesses, and trees. You won’t find them in stores, and they’re the only lights we install, because they’re the only lights we’re willing to warranty.

Heavier wire

Our tree strands are built on 18-gauge wire at 22 mA, where other brands use 20-gauge at 16 mA. The result is a stronger, brighter strand.

Brighter bulbs

Our glass C9s are the brightest C9 bulbs available, and our Superbrite C9s are the brightest plastic C9s on the market.

Single-piece construction

Our C5 tree lights are built as one solid piece, so the bulbs don't come out. There are no loose bulbs to fall out, go missing, or need replacing.

Checked Before It Ships

Every strand goes through quality control before it leaves our supplier. We hold each production run to the same spec we designed it to, from brightness and colour consistency to wire and connections. If a batch doesn’t meet our standard, it doesn’t ship. That’s how we make sure the lights going up on your home are the same quality every time.

Four-Year Warranty

When we install and remove your lights each year, they're covered under our four-year warranty. We can stand behind them because we control how they're made.

True North Lights Only

We only install our own lights. Store-bought lights are generally lower quality and we can't warranty their performance, so we don't put our name on them.
