ABOUT US

Why should I hire True North Christmas Lights?
We manufacture our own lights to ensure quality and brightness that we can warranty for the season. Our installers are all fall safe trained with our team leaders all having at least 3 years experience.
I own lights already. Will you put them up?
Unfortunately we only install True North Brand lights. Other lights in the market are generally lower quality. We cannot warranty their performance. Also we cannot fit any other brands on our trucks.
How do you compare to permanent lighting installations?
Our seasonal lights are static colour or remote control coulour changing. They are dsigned to be installed annually. Seasonal displays are 25% the cost of a premanent install and 10% annual labour once you own the lights. We are approved Gemstone permanent installers, happy to quote.
How can I get an estimate?
Use our online AI estimator to get an accurate estimate.
How does your four year warranty work?
If your lights are installed and removed annually we will warranty the lights once installed for the lighting season.
What is the best way to get in contact with True North Christmas Lights?
Email is the best way to contact us. We are happy to schedule our phone calls to ensure that we have the time to answer all the questions one may want to ask.
What’s the owner like?
Dan is a skier and climber who cares a great deal about his staff and his work.
What’s the history of the company?
Started in 2009, the company was founded in order for the owner and his friends to be able to ski full time. In 2010, we started manufacturing our own lights. The company is still comprised of mountain athletes working hard long hours to further their mountain sports pursuits in the winter.
What is the installation team like? (What kind of people are the installers and office staff?)
The installers as well as the admin team are a combination of rugged Calgarians and Passionate Mountain athletes.
OUR FAQS

SCHEDULING

How does our scheduling process work?
Once the booking is confirmed, we put the job into queue for the selected week. Weather and safety condition permitting, our installs go as scheduled. When weather interferes, we have 4 crews available on Saturdays to get all unfinished jobs from the week caught up.
I’m really frustrated, why did I get rescheduled (again!)?
Generally the weather and or the safety of the job has been compromised. We will make your job the first Job of the day on the following Saturday. In rare situations where the safety is too questionable, we may have to cancel the job
OUR FAQS

PRODUCT AND INSTALLATION

House lights? Which should I get and why?
Individually clipped C9s on the home provide an organized look with all bulbs pointing in the same direction.
Tree lights? Which should I get and why?
C5 lights have 96 LEDs on one strand and are designed to go into trees. With 3" spacing, the lights are dense and bright when wrapped around the extrior or interior of the trees.
Is it safe?
Installing lights at heights is inherently dangerous work. We have a safety policy and procedure manual for the employees. Employees all have the first right of refusal on work if they do not feel comfortable or that they can performt the task safely.
Will it damage my tree?
There will be small branches broken but nothing the tree cannot deal with.
You just installed my lights last week and some of them (or all of them) are now not working!
There is likely one failed strand that requires replacing. We will be back in 72 hours to diagnose and fix the problem. Thank you for your understanding.
Why do I need permanent rubber clips? Why can’t you install with the regular plastic clips? (gutter guards or flashing only houses)
Our clips are designed to go into a gutter. When we cannot go into the gutter, the only option we have is to screw in a rubber clip on the fascia underneath the eavestrough to be able to hold the bulb in place.
Why do I have some green wire and some brown wire on my trees?
The green wire light strands are 25’ and the brown wire strands are 16’. We use a combination of the two lengths to avoid having extra strand length when we get to the bottom.
Why do you have different strand colours for your tree strands?
Brown wire are typically designed for trunk wraps and green wire for the outside of trees.
I have wreath that I would like up. Could you do that?
Sure 25-50$.
OUR FAQS

CHARGES AND INVOICING

What is the payment process? Really, it’s due the same day?!
We have an 80 day season with over 200k in operating costs to get the season going. We need to be paid right away. Thank you for your understanding.
I live in ______ , is there an out of town fee to visit my site?
Yes, our fuel and employees time costs us money. We need to pass the cost onto the client.
Why did you charge me for clips? Again?
As clips wear over time they become brittle and break. We need to add some clips every year. While the lights are warrantied for 4 years the clips are not.
OUR FAQS

TAKEDOWN

When will the lights get removed?
We start residential takedowns April 1st. There is generally ice in the bottom of a shaded gutter that will inhibit the clips from coming out. We are more than happy to come out sooner but will charge for our time if we need to return.
How do you take the lights down?
As we only charge 30% of install, we use a pole to pull the lights off the gutters and peaks. We are more than happy to remove the lights individually like on install, the price will be the same as the install
Can I take down the lights myself?
Absolutely but if there are damaged strands the following year when we install them, we will need to charge for their replacements.
