The Lights Behind a True North Install

We only install our own lights. We’ve been developing them since 2010, working with our suppliers in China to build them to our specs, and the whole lineup is designed around one thing: holding up through a Calgary winter while staying brighter than anything you’ll find in a store. Here’s a look at what we put on homes and trees, and why we chose each one.

We only install our own lights. We’ve been developing them since 2010, working with our suppliers in China to build them to our specs, and the whole lineup is designed around one thing: holding up through a Calgary winter while staying brighter than anything you’ll find in a store. Here’s a look at what we put on homes and trees, and why we chose each one.
C9 Glass Bulbs: The Roofline Standard
The C9 is the classic Christmas light shape, the big bulb you picture when you think of a house lined in lights. Ours are glass, and they’re the brightest C9 bulbs available.
Each strand runs 16 feet with 20 bulbs, and we clip every bulb individually along your gutters and peaks. That’s more work than draping a strand and moving on, but it means every bulb points the same direction. The result is the clean, even line that makes a house look finished instead of just lit.
C9s come in warm white, pure white, and multicolour. If you want something different, we can build any custom colour combination. Red and white, blue and white, team colours, whatever you have in mind.
C9 Superbrite: Plastic, Still Bright
Not every home needs glass. Our Superbrite C9s are plastic bulbs with 24 bulbs on a 16-foot strand, and they’re the brightest plastic C9s on the market. They come in warm white and give you a tight, bright roofline at a lower price point than glass.
C5 Tree Lights: Built for Wrapping
Trees are where a lot of lights fail. Strands get pulled through branches, bent around trunks, and left out in wind and snow for months. Our C5 tree lights were designed with that in mind. Each strand packs 96 LEDs into 25 feet with about 3 inches between bulbs. That spacing is what gives a wrapped tree that dense, full glow instead of a scattered look. Wrap the outside of the tree, the inside, or both, and it reads as solid light from the street.
A few details make a big difference here:
Single-piece construction. The bulbs are built into the strand and don’t come out. No loose bulbs falling into the snow, and no hunting for the one that broke the circuit.
Heavier wire. Our tree strands run on 18-gauge wire at 22 mA. Most other brands use 20-gauge at 16 mA. The heavier wire is stronger and drives brighter LEDs.
Wire colour matched to the job. We use brown wire for trunk wraps, green for the branches, black for posts, and white for canopies and weddings. When the lights are off during the day, the wire blends in instead of standing out.
C5s come in warm white, pure white, multicolour, red, green, blue, and pink.
Colour-Changing C5s
New in 2024, our colour-changing C5s give you more than one look from the same install. They run 100 LEDs on a 25-foot strand and work off a remote, with fade, flash, multi, and twinkle modes. Like the rest of our lineup, you won’t find these in stores.
They’re a good fit for trees and yards where you want some movement, or for families who can’t agree on warm white versus multicolour. Now you don’t have to pick.
